Film and OST Review: Hotarubi no Mori e
11:34 PMSo a few days ago, I watched the anime film Hotarubi no Mori e (Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light). It's a movie adaptation of the manga one-shot of the same name.
It's a story about little Hotaru Takegawa that gets lost in the forest inhabited by spirits. Gin, a human-like spirit that wears a mask all the time, spots her and leads her the way out of the forest. He then warns her that he'll disappear forever if he is touched by a human. Despite that, Hotaru visits Gin to play with him until the end of summer. At the last day before she returns to the city, Hotaru promises to come back to the forest every summer.
It was a really beautiful film. Even if it's just a one-shot, I thought that it was already enough to make the story so amazing. The art style is also pretty and the OST. The OST. They really fit the beauty and depression for the movie. I even cried at the end because it was beautiful and sad at the same time.
I highly HIGHLY recommend you watch this movie. It is such a wonderful masterpiece you shouldn't waste.
You can watch the movie here:
The OST has really good piano + violin tracks. It is currently one of my favorite OST albums to listen to on repeat. Even though the piano parts seem repetitive, it matches with the violin parts so well which makes them all sound better. This one is my personal favorite:
Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
